CHUNMEE - This tea is produced in China an is also referred to as Zhenmei or Precious Eyebrows. The labor-intensive hand processing produces very fine, eye-brow shaped leaves. The color is jade green and yields a liquor which is pale yellow. The flavor is mellow, smooth and plum-like.
DRAGONWELL (Lung Ching No. 1) - Known as one of Chinas best teas, it is grown in the Zhejiang province near the village of Lung Ching. Beautiful long, smooth green tea leaves are flattened to retain essential oils. The cup is pale gold in color. Flavor is delicate and mellow with a slight hint of smokiness and finishes with a sweet aftertaste Dragonwell tea is said to have a "cooling" effect on the body and is often served during warm weather. Makes a great iced tea.
GUNPOWDER GREEN (ZHUCHA) - Also known as "pearl" tea, Gunpowder green is produced in the Ning Bo region of China. These tightly rolled balls of leaves resemble gunpowder pellets. This state allows gunpowder tea to be kept longer than most other greens. Once infused in water, leaves unfurl to give a strong, slightly pungent flavor with a long aftertaste. Color is a coppery green. Gunpowder is said to be high in fluoride.
ORGANIC FIVE PEAKS GREEN JADE - This is a green tea produced in Hubei, China, according to the "steam cure, fire wind" process. It is a great everyday green tea with a buttery texture and toasty lingering finish.
RICE FLOWER (Genmaicha) - A blend of China green tea leaves and toasted brown rice. Popped corn kernels are then added to the mixture. Once infused in hot water, popped kernels resemble delicate white flowers. Rice flower yields a cup that is light brown in color has a unique nutty flavor and pleasing aroma.
SENCHA - Hailing from the Shizuoka prefecture (southwest of Tokyo), this tea is grown and harvested in the primary producing region in Japan. Japan only exports one to two percent of its total production and relies primarily on mechanical plucking. The distinctive leaf appearance is due to pan or basket firing, which give the leaves a glossy look and feel. The tea yields an infusion that is a pale, yellow-green color with a medium body. The flavor is delicately herbaceous.
